EHS/RMS debuts new, user-friendly website

by Michelle Saport  |

After spending years using the oldest website on the UAA server, Environmental Health & Safety and Risk Management Support (EHS/RMS) is proud to announce we have moved over to the Denali View look. Our old website was loaded with information and resources and we did our best to move all the content over to the new site.

In addition, we sought to group like items together to create easier navigation for the end user. Our goal is to provide quality EHS/RMS information in a user-friendly way. Please take the time to have a look at the new site and the way it has been grouped. And if you notice something that you had used in the past is no longer available, please feel free to contact anyone in our department and we can help. Thank you to everybody who helped with this along the way, and we look forward to hearing input on how the site works for you.

The new site is located at http://www.uaa.alaska.edu/ehsrms/.

Also, all of the policies/procedures were updated, consolidated and scrubbed against the newest regulations. If there are policies/procedures that apply to your work center, please check out the new versions for any changes. We're happy to answer any questions on these as well.

One policy change that was prompted by a university-wide program review in October 2011 is the prohibition of wooden ladders on campus. After extensive research and equipment surveys here at UAA, it was determined that the regulated and required maintenance of wooden ladders on campus was not up to OSHA standards and that fiberglass or aluminum ladders were a better fit for our employees.

If you have any questions about this change, please contact Nicholas Dighiera at 786-1178 or nddighiera@uaa.alaska.edu.
