Richard Cionco, praised by The New York Times for his "sensitive pianism," has performed in recitals and as concerto soloist in
Japan, Taiwan, China, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Denmark, Canada and
throughout the U.S.
The UAA Department of Music is thrilled to welcome Cionco to UAA for what is sure to be a memorable performance. He will perform "Prelude in B Minor" by J.S. Bach, Kreisleriana, Op. 16 by Robert Schumann, "Vzpominka (Recollections)" by Leoš Janáček, "Four Postcards" by Richard Cionco and "Faust Waltz" by Franz Liszt. Tickets are available for this one-night-only concert at UAAtix.com or (907) 786-4TIX.
A Steinway artist since 1997, Cionco is a graduate of the University of Maryland and The Juilliard School where he studied with Thomas Schumacher, Rudolf Firkušný and Audrey Bart Brown. Important performances include those at New York's Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Merkin Concert Hall and Steinway Hall, as well as The Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C., the Chicago Cultural Center, the American Liszt Society Festival in Dallas and at the Mondavi Center for the Arts in California.
His performances of Liszt's complete Transcendental Etudes have brought rave reviews, most notably from the Washington Post.
Cionco recently released a new recording of late piano music by Beethoven and appears on a new album by composer/pianist Sunny Knable, titled "American Variations." His performance at UAA on Nov. 16 is a do-not-miss for any music enthusiast.
