Northrim Bank gift funds new lecture series at Mat-Su College

Mat-Su College Director Talis Colberg accepting the check from Northrim BankOn Nov. 27, at the Greater Wasilla Chamber of Commerce Luncheon, Northrim Bank President Joe Beedle, Wasilla Branch Manager Anita DeVore and Assistant Vice President and Business Development Officer Erica Bills awarded a check for $5,000 to the Matanuska-Susitna College campus.

It is the second such contribution to the college from Northrim Bank in two years. The college has established a fund with the money (now $10,000) to pay for what will become The Northrim Bank Lecture Series, set to launch when the new college theater opens in the fall of 2014. The lectures will feature business topics and the fund will be used to provide travel and honorariums for quality speakers.

"Receiving both recognition and support from a statewide institution is a major milestone in the evolution of our school," said Mat-Su College director Talis Colberg.

Other awardees at the luncheon on Tuesday include John Cannon, executive director of Mat-Su Services for Children and Adults, who received $20,000, and Eddie Edzelle, executive director of the Food Pantry of Wasilla, who received $1,743.
