UAA Planetarium: 'Coral: Rekindling Venus' shows twice Jan. 25

"Coral: Rekindling Venus" is a film made without narration. It is made to be an immersive experience of the diverse and complex community of coral reefs using a subtle and imaginative narrative structure. An official selection for the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, "Coral" is an immersive and emotional journey. It invites you to lose yourself in the truly extraordinary world of coral reef communities. It allows you to feel as if you are present, sometimes lying on the sea floor and sometimes free floating through the plankton-rich sea at night. This sensation helps to build our connection to the worlds reefs.

Humans as much as corals are reliant on healthy oceans, but climate scientists warn us that this remarkable world of coral reefs is at risk. "Coral" offers a rare opportunity to experience the reef, to come to know corals and so, hopefully, to cherish and protect them. Our very special presentations of this Sundance-selected full-dome film will be for a limited time only. Each presentation will consist solely of the 23-minute prerecorded program, but tickets will remain at our regular Friday night prices for this premium event. Ticket reservations are available online only at UAATix.com. Remaining tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis at the door on the day of the show.

The planetarium will open for seating 30 minutes before the start of each show. You must be in the theater 10 minutes before the show starts. Reserved seats will be released after this time to stand-by customers. There is no entry after the show begins.
