Trauma-informed Dialogue: Dialogue as an Element of Holistic Healing Praxis
by Green & Gold News |
The Difficult Dialogues National Resource Center, co-founded by UAA's Director of Difficult Dialogues Libby Roderick, will host the event 'Trauma-informed Dialogue: Dialogue as an Element of Holistic Healing Praxis' on Oct. 17.
Being trauma-informed in dialogue spaces requires an intentional, holistic approach that acknowledges the person first and does not frame their trauma within a deficit model where the individual needs to be fixed.
Rather, trauma-informed dialogue should be part of a holistic healing praxis that acknowledges trauma is the outcome of experiencing harm enabled by systemic and historical inequities and oppressions.
The webinar will offer a brief overview of deficit versus holistic healing praxis in dialogue, examples of dialogue praxis, a panel reflection of those examples and an interactive exploration of how to develop and utilize a holistic healing praxis when being trauma informed.
