Sister City Requirements and Costs

The State of Alaska and Alaska Municipalities have established relationships with some foreign cities and provinces allowing qualified students an exemption from the nonresident tuition surcharge.

If you are a resident of one of the cities or provinces list below, please complete and return the Residency Form.

Choose Option #3 and select the option that reads: “A student from a foreign city or province that has established sister city or sister province relationships with the State of Alaska, or Alaska municipalities, and that has been approved by the president as listed in UA Regulation 05.10.050.”

Your request must be made before the add/drop deadline of the first semester in which you attend UAA and will be in effect for the duration of your continued enrollment at UAA.

  • Please allow 2-4 weeks for processing
  • Supporting documentation may be needed; if it is, you will be notified at the time of processing.
  • Students who have been away from UAA for more than 2 semesters may have to submit a new residency form at the time of re-enrolling in courses.
