Resources and Training
The Office of Equity and Compliance (OEC) is committed to reducing and eliminating harm within our campus community. As a way to meet this mission, OEC offers a variety of trainings to help educate our community on resources and to be active bystanders. Please find below a description of the trainings we offer and how to access trainings:
Trainings and Online Courses
OEC provides both online and in-person training options for departments, divisions, student groups, and other members of the UAA Community. All "in-person" trainings for the duration of Covid-19 restrictions will be conducted over Zoom videoconferencing.
Online Courses
Employee Title IX Training:
The online on-demand employee training is available through MyUA. All University of Alaska Anchorage employees must complete this training by September 30, 2020. If you have completed an in-person training then you have satisfied this requirement.
Student Title IX Training:
The online on-demand student training is available through Blackboard. All UAA students are required to complete UA Safe training online by October 31, 2020. If you have completed an in-person training then you have satisfied this requirement.
Degree seeking, living in campus housing, middle college students enrolled at the university, or on national/international exchange who have not completed the training since July 1, 2020 must complete the UA Safe training.
In-Person Title IX Trainings
OEC also offers in-person trainings upon request by a departments, divisions, managers, student groups, and other members of UAA's campus. To request a training, please allow for at least two-week notice and provide two to three times and dates within your request.
To request an in-person Title IX training, please contact Neil Best and provide the following information:
- The department or group you are requesting the training for.
- Approximately how many people will be participating in the training.
- Two to three times and days that will fit within the group's timeframe for the training.
- Any specific accommodations that the group requires for the training.

The Office of Equity and Compliance is also willing to work with your department specifically in meeting your training needs in the following areas:

- LGBTQ2I+ Awareness Training/Creating Inclusive Spaces
- SafeZone Training
- Cultural Awareness
*Some of these trainings may be developed and presented by OEC partners across campus.

Opt Out Form
If you have experienced trauma in the past related to sex or gender-based discrimination and you feel that impacts your ability to take the Title IX training, you can opt out by completing the Title IX Training Opt Out Form.
