Invasive Plant Species Survey and Remediation
Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson

AERC surveyed and identified invasive species on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER), including the priority species reed canary grass, orange hawkweed, Canada thistle, bird vetch, elodea, sweet clover, mountain ash, and bird cherry. The project included an inventory and assessment of invasive species, an evaluation of previously treated invasive species populations, and treatment of invasive plant species. Treatment included the use of equipment necessary to apply chemical control, including herbicide to aid in the removal of the priority invasive species.

Project goals: Identify locations of priority species on base, remediate and remove invasive species, and determine the efficacy of remediation techniques.
