ACFTA Logo

Welcome to the Alaska Comprehensive Forensic Training Academy (ACFTA), where medical providers receive specialized training in the proper collection of forensic evidence from the moment of care initiation. Our program equips participants with essential knowledge and skills to ensure the utmost dignity and respect for individuals reporting trauma and/or violence within Alaska's communities. Established with support from the Alaska Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, ACFTA is the brainchild of Dr. Angelia Trujillo.

Recognizing the crucial role of skilled providers in areas such as diagnosis, treatment, interviewing, and evidence collection, ACFTA aims to overcome obstacles in bringing cases through the criminal justice system. Our comprehensive curriculum, which empowers medical providers to proficiently collect evidence documenting interpersonal violence injuries, contributes to the provision of solid evidence within the justice system, addressing the domestic violence crisis in Alaska. Join us in making a meaningful impact on forensic practices and support the resolution of domestic violence cases in Alaska.
