Clinical Rotation Information

  • Clinical practicums are an essential and mandatory piece of the DMS curriculum.
  • All students are required to complete two, six-month clinical rotations during the second year of the program.
  • Clinical practicum sites are located around the state as well as Hawaii. Current clinical sites are located in Anchorage, Mat-Su, Seward, Soldotna, Juneau, Fairbanks, Bethel, Hilo, and Kona. While students are guaranteed clinical placements, no student may request a specific site.
  • Travel, lodging and other associated costs related to assignment outside of the Anchorage area or the student's home location is at the student’s expense. Grant and scholarship money may be available.
  • Students are required to show proof of health insurance prior to the start of clinical practicum.
  • Students are required to provide documentation of all immunizations required by the clinical practicum site.
  • All students will also be required to have a PPD prior to the start of clinical in the Fall semester of the second year of the program.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification will be provided in the first semester of the program.
  • Please contact the DMS program with any questions related to clinical rotation.
