RN to BS in Nursing Science

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program offers a direct articulation option for RN nurses with an associates degree. An accepted, degree-seeking UAA nursing student who has successfully passed the National Council Licensing Exam (NCLEX-RN) and has current RN licensure in the State of Alaska may be granted up to 42-course credits upon admission to the nursing science major. RNs who apply to UAA and qualify for admission to the BSN program are admitted as pre-majors.

PREREQUISITES

  • Associates degree in nursing from an accredited institution
  • Verified application in NursingCAS (beginning Spring 2024)
  • Unencumbered RN licensure in the State of Alaska

MAJOR REQUIREMENTS

Coursework in the pre-licensure option is completed online with the exception of two required in-person clinical experiences. When possible, clinical hours are completed in the student's home community with a local preceptor. When a preceptorship cannot be arranged in a student's home community, the student may be required to travel to Anchorage. Students traveling for intensive clinicals are responsible for obtaining and paying for transportation, housing, and all other related expenses.
