UNAC Faculty Development Travel Award 2017
Application deadline: Friday, February 17th
Travel must be completed by June 30, 2017
The funds for these awards are generated from by buy-outs of UNAC members’ workloads in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement 5.2d. The CBA stipulates that the funds be used for faculty travel for professional development or for other professional development.
- Submission deadline: Friday, February 17th.
- This funding is available only to members of the United Academics bargaining unit.
- Funds may be used for:
1.Travel expenses for the purpose of presenting papers or actively participating in scholarly conferences, workshops and symposiums.
- Travel expenses for the acquisition of an/or processing of data or samples.
- Reimbursement of travel expenses for either of the above two activities that occurred since the start of this contract period and for which a Travel Authorization was submitted
- Faculty should submit a brief proposal (one page, single spaced) that
1.identifies your faculty status, e.g., new faculty, second-year faculty, tenured or untenured, Assistant/ Associate/Professor,
2. a description of the travel or activity
3. an explanation of how the travel or activity will enhance your teaching, research, or service.
4. A brief budget, itemizing hotel, transportation expenses, per diem, registration fee and a description of other funds you have received for this trip or activity.
- Awards are for up to $1,000.
- Funds must be spent by June 30, 2017 in accordance with UA accounting deadlines.
- Proposals will be awarded according to the degree to which the faculty development is described to enhance the faculty members’ teaching, service, and/or research. While requests from faculty members of all ranks will be considered, priority will be given to junior faculty members, especially those who are pre-tenure.
- After completion of the funded award, faculty will submit a brief summary of their experience to Marian Bruce: mkbruce@alaska.edu

The release time faculty release committee, composed of two members selected by the Provost and two members appointed by UNAC, will review requests and make selections. Award announcements are anticipated by March 3, 2017.
