Archaeology Day 2014

by Michelle Saport  |

Saturday, Oct. 18, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. University Center

You can try to shoot a model bison using a spear throwing board (atlatl), learn about the human skeleton, find artifacts in a mock dig, identify how old a cabin is from its logs, learn about animal bones from archaeological sites, make stone artwork or petroglyphs and learn how to make a stone knife or arrowhead. An archaeologist will be present to identify artifacts, and there will be movies and displays about archaeology in Alaska set up throughout the University Center.

Everybody is welcome! The displays and activities are for all ages, from children through adult. The demonstrations and activities will be led by professional archaeologists who work throughout the state.
