UAA ranked among 2021 Best Colleges by U.S. News

UAA earned high marks for its undergraduate business, engineering and computer science programs in the 2021 Best Colleges rankings, released by U.S. News and World Report this week.

For this year's edition, U.S. News updated the Best Colleges methodology to better inform prospective students and their families. Among the changes are two new ranking indicators measuring student debt and an increased emphasis on outcome measures.

Take a look at how UAA performed in the rankings:

National rankings

#60 (tie) - Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs
From a field of more than 200 schools, UAA tied with a dozen other institutions for 60th-best undergraduate engineering program (among schools that do not offer doctorate degrees in the field). Other schools ranked at No. 60 include University of Hartford, University of the Pacific and College of New Jersey.

#235 (tie) - Best Undergraduate Business Programs
Out of more than 500 schools, UAA is tied at No. 235 for best undergraduate business program. Other schools ranked 235th-place include University of Alaska Fairbanks, North Dakota State University and Marshall University.

#249 (tie) - Best Undergraduate Computer Science Programs
A new category for 2021, UAA is ranked No. 249 for best undergraduate computer science program out of nearly 500 schools. UAA is tied with a dozen other institutions, including Hofstra University, College of Charleston and Indiana State University.

Regional rankings

#75 (tie) - Best Regional Universities West
U.S. News defines regional universities as those that "offer a full range of undergraduate programs and some master's programs but few doctoral programs." UAA shares 75th-place for best overall in the west with four other universities: Midwestern State University, Southern Oregon University, Walla Walla University and Western Colorado University.

#35 (tie) - Top Public Schools in the West
This list is a subset of the Best Regional Universities West rankings, featuring only public schools. UAA placed at No. 35 on the 2021 list, tying with the three public schools from the above category (Midwestern State University, Southern Oregon University and Western Colorado University).
