Middle School Public Debate Program
Welcome to the site for the Anchorage Middle School Public Debate Program League. The Seawolf Debate program of the University of Alaska Anchorage are pleased to sponsor a competition that provides middle school students with the opportunity to practice the skills required of informed citizens.
History of the Program
The Anchorage Middle School Public Debate Program was launched in 2011 as an initiative by the Seawolf Debate Program to promote competitive academic debating in the Anchorage middle schools. The effort was a great success and laid a solid foundation for the future growth of the program. Three middle schools have partnered with us in the pilot phase of this initiative: Mirror Lake Middle School; Clark Middle School; and Begich Middle School. Today we are pleased to have the regular attendance of 6-8 area middle schools, with roughly 75 students participating at each competition. In 2017, we began our efforts to expand the program to Fairbanks.
