Howl Days (Orientation for New Students)

Welcome future Seawolves! Howl Days Orientations are designed for all incoming UAA students, whether you are a first-time freshman (never attended college before), transfer student, or student returning to college after a long break. Attending orientation is expected of all incoming students and gives you the opportunity to connect with UAA students, staff and faculty while getting information about life at UAA.  At orientation, you will register for classes, as long as you have completed your required Placement Exams.

First semester advising and class registration now takes place at orientation!

We offer a variety of orientation sessions throughout the summer.  Attending Howl Days is FREE for students. We also welcome guests at a $25 fee per person. Fees cover food and event costs. This fee is charged directly to your UAA student account with your tuition and other student fees. To learn more about orientation and which you should attend, read through the calendar below,  visit our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) page, or Contact Us for more information.

Why is orientation important, you ask? Orientation will relieve common anxieties about starting college, and new students who make these valuable connections tend to:

  • Be more successful in their transition to college
  • Be more likely to be satisfied with their college experience
  • Achieve better grades
  • Graduate from their degree program

Thinking about changing your Howl Days Orientation date?

Please limit the amount of times you change orientations to
ONE time, out of courtesy for other students. If you are changing, please do so no later than five (5) business days before your orientation date (refer to the Refund Deadlines), unless you must reschedule or cancel due to circumstances beyond your control.

To change orientations, simply resubmit a new Howl Days Sign-Up Form.

Registration for the Spring 2020 Howl Days is OPEN!

Degree-seeking students may register for only one (1) orientation below. All orientation slots are first-come, fist-served and each session is capped at 120 attendees. Registration will close for sessions once they reach capacity.

Registration closes at 12:00PM (Noon) one (1) business day prior to your registered orientation. You are still welcome to attend by registering in-person at the event. For location and time information, visit the Orientation Schedules & Information page.
