The UAA Testing Center offers a wide range of exams for credit covering various subject areas.  We also provide approved vendor resources to help candidates prepare effectively.  Our goal is to empower you with the tools needed to be successful in your educational needs.

  • CIS 110

    CIS 110 Test for Credit

    This exam is 5 hours long to be broken down into 4 parts:

     Part 1 CIS110 MS Excel Exam (75 Minutes)

    Part 2 CIS110 MS Access Exam (75 Minutes)

    Part 3 CIS110 MS Word (Two parts) and MS PowerPoint Exams (90 Minutes)

    Part 4 CIS110 Multiple Choice exam (60 Minutes)

        
     Students can have a break for 15 minutes after completing at least two parts of the test.

     Students can start with any part of the test. However, once they have started a part of the test, this part must be completed in one sitting.

  • CLEP
    The College Level Program (CLEP) allows you to receive college credit for what you already know, for a fraction of the cost of a college course.  Developed by the College Board, CLEP is the most widely accepted credit by examination program and is available at more than 2,900 colleges and universities.  Pass any of the 34 CLEP exams to help achieve your college and career goals.  CLEP exams are offered during the testing center open hours.  Candidates who wish to take a CLEP exam must first purchase an exam from the College Board and receive an exam ticket ID.  The ticket ID is required for you to schedule an appointment below with the testing center.  Candidates who fail a CLEP exam and wish to retake it must wait 90 days to do so.

  • DSST

    The DSST college level exams allow students to earn college credit for knowledge acquired outside of the traditional classroom.  Recommended for credit by the American Council on Education (ACE), the 38 subject-level exams are offered in diverse disciplines and cover upper and lower-level baccalaureate credit courses.   

    DSST Exams are available free to the following eligible military personnel and eligible civilian employees:

    Military personnel (Active Duty and Reserve) - Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, Army Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve, Navy Reserve, Coast Guard Reserve, Army and Air National Guard.

    Eligible civilian employees and spouses of participating Reserve Component and Coast Guard personnel. 

    Candidates who fail a DSST exam and wish to retake it must wait 30 days to do so. If you are Military and are retaking an exam, you must pay the full cost of the exam, including the UAA Proctoring fee of $30.00.  The Department of Defense only pays for the exam once.

  • FLATS

    The Foreign Language Achievement test provides students the opportunity to receive up to 12 pass/fail university credits by examination. Currently,  the University of Alaska Anchorage does not accept credit for any of these tests. The test is 2.5 hours in length and examinees are required to register with BYU at least 10 days before the scheduled test date. Examinees must schedule a proctoring appointment for the FLATS exam online 24 hours in advance with the UAA Testing Center.  

    *UAA does not award credit for the FLATS exam. Review the information below on how to schedule.

  • Modern States
    The College Board has partnered with Modern States to offer free, high quality online courses taught by college professors that prepare you for CLEP exams.  Modern States will pay for you to take the CLEP exam. After you complete the coursework and practice questions.  There are no prerequisites for the 32 courses that are available, and all of them are self paced.  Some of the courses stem from a partnership between Modern States ane edX, the online education platform created by Harvard and MIT.

  • DSST Resources
    Prometric is pleased to share that Peterson’s, a key provider of preparation materials for the DSST tests, is now offering a preparation app for the Principles of Supervision test. This quiz app lets you study on the go, and prepare for your test with customized quizzes, including complete and detailed answer explanations. The app also allows you to set goals and measure your completion, providing a helpful tool to help you personalize your study routine.
