Sustainability Groups & Clubs to Join
Paper & Energy Working Group
The Paper & Energy Working Group (PEWG) is dedicated toward reducing the amount of paper used on campus. The group also seeks to reduce energy use and has conducted surveys on the amount of energy spent in UAA's computer labs. The results revealed that the most efficient and cost effective way to conserve energy is to have computer screens go dark instead of alternating to a screen saver. If you are interested in serving on the Paper and Energy Working Group, please feel free to send us an email or post your ideas on our FaceBook page.
Transportation Working Group
The Transportation Working Group (TWG) is group that focuses on transportation around campus. Topics of discussion include winter biking, vehicle/biking/pedestrian safety and education, improving our multi-use trails, and more. The group is always looking for great ideas from students, staff, and faculty about transportation on campus. If you would like to attend a meeting or join the TWG, please send us an email or feel free to post your ideas on how UAA can continue to build and support more biking, walking, and alternative transportation options (especially during winter) on our FaceBook page.
UAA Sustainability Action Board
The Sustainability Action Board (SAB) consists of 3 to 4 staff, 3 faculty, and 3 to 4 students, one of which is a USUAA student representative. The SAB advises and recommends to the Chancellor and the Sustainability Director courses of action on campus-wide sustainability issues and strategies. SAB promotes and supports annual campus efforts that advance sustainability, recognizes and honors exemplary actions that contribute to a sustainable campus climate and assists the Director in developing and implementing UAA's Sustainability Action Plan.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the SAB, please send us an email.
