Ted and Gloria Trueblood Cold Regions Engineering Lab
Frozen Specimen Testing
The Cold Regions Engineering Lab provides ample space to store, prepare, and test specimens in extreme cold temperatures and controlled humidity.
Walk-in Freezer/Cold Room
The walk-in freezer/cold room contains three independently controlled chambers with 5" insulated walls allowing for simultaneous operation at different temperatures. Each chamber has a 48"x 84" door opening and 14" view port window. The chambers are equipped with standard electrical outlets and 4" pass-thru sleeves for additional cables.
- Cold Room
- Minimum temperature: 4°C
- 9'6" (w) x 9'0" (d) x 9'6" (h)
- Right Freezer
- Minimum temperature: -20°C
- 8'6" (w) x 9'0" (d) x 9'6" (h)
- Left Freezer
- Minimum temperature: -30°C
- 10'0" (w) x 9'0" (d) x 9'6" (h)
Environmental Chamber
The standalone environmental chamber provides extreme cold temperatures and controlled humidity testing.
- Temperature range: -70°C to 190°C
- Humidity range: 10% to 98% RH
- Chamber size: 2' x 2' x 2'
- Two 4" pass-thru cable ports
Models for Providing Services to Industry
Research Grant
- Long-term study
- Fundamental research
- Applied research
Short-form Contract
- Standard UAA contract
- Contract generally accepted by all parties as-is
- Best for projects that are time-critical
Master Services Agreement (MSA)
- Provide testing services as needed
- Each negotiated scope of work performed under MSA
- Saves time (once MSA is in place)
- Best when multiple services may be needed over an extended period
Cost Center (coming soon)
- Set usage rate
- No contract
- Deliverables upon receipt of payment
- Smaller projects with short timeframe
