Academic Detailing in Alaska

ACADEMIC DETAILING

Evidence-Based Prescriber Education & Clinical Support

The Academic Detailing Program at the Alaska Center for Rural Health & Health Workforce (ACRH-HW) provides healthcare professionals across Alaska with practical, evidence-based education to improve patient care.

Academic detailing is a personalized education approach in which trained health professionals—known as academic detailers—meet directly with prescribers or care teams to share unbiased, up-to-date clinical information. These sessions are interactive, data-driven, and non-commercial, focusing on real-world application in Alaska’s diverse healthcare settings.

OVERVIEW

Academic detailing bridges the gap between research and practice by helping clinicians stay informed about current guidelines and evidence-based interventions. Each session is designed as a brief, focused conversation (typically 20–30 minutes) that supports safe, effective, and patient-centered prescribing.

Sessions are offered both virtually and in person and may qualify for continuing education (CE) credit.
