Join Air Force ROTC

Are you ready to take the first step towards becoming an Air Force Officer?

The Air Force ROTC program at UAA offers unique benefits and rewards to those that meet the entry requirements outlined below. Scholarships, travel, and stipends, as well as future benefits of tuition assistance, base salary, and retirement pension are attainable.

  • Academic Requirements
Be accepted to UAA or one of our cross-town universities we service. Sign-up to take AFROTC courses as a freshman or sophomore. You must have a minimum college cumulative GPA of 2.0 (if you've had prior college courses) to enter the program. You must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 to remain in the program. If you are on a scholarship, you must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 to stay in the program.
  • Medical Requirements
If you have any history of diagnosed medical issues (such as asthma, ADD/ADHD, learning disabilities, eating disorders, eczema/atopic dermatitis, depression/anxiety, etc.) or you take a prescription medication, please let us know. Not all medical issues are disqualifying, notifying the detachment cadre allows us to research and seek applicable waivers.
  • Physical Requirements

As a member of our program, you must be within the Air Force body mass standards by Fall Semester of your second year. New cadets must have a sports physical to participate in our physical training program. You will have to pass the Air Force Physical Fitness Assessment by the third semester.

If you meet the requirements above and think this program is right for you, the first step to joining Air Force ROTC at UAA is to register for the fall Aerospace Studies AIRS A101 or the spring Aerospace Studies AIRS A102 Class.

If you are interested in the program but want more information, we would love to hear from you and discuss our program in more detail. Contact us at 907.786.7266 or via email. You can also visit our office at the Aviation Technology Complex at 2811 Merrill Field, Room 116, Anchorage, AK.
