Mission

The U.S. Army Cadet Command selects, educates, trains, and commissions college students to be officers and leaders of character in the Total Army; instills the values of citizenship, national and community service, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment in high school students.

Nanook Battalion

The Nanook Battalion includes the University of Alaska Fairbanks as the host school and the University of Alaska Anchorage as a detachment. Professor of Military Science Lt. Col. George Plys is located at the UAF campus and is the overall commander of the Nanook Battalion U.S. Army ROTC program.

The assistant professor of military science for the UAA ROTC is Maj. David Cunningham. He is the primary contact for future inquiries relating to the UAA Army ROTC program.
