2013 Cabin Fever Debates begin Jan. 29

Cabin Fever Debates logoThe Seawolf Debate team is proud to sponsor the Eighth Annual Cabin Fever Debates, UAA's intramural debating tournament. The tournament provides an opportunity for UAA students to hone critical thinking and advocacy skills while competing for great prizes. We created the Cabin Fever Debates to meet the needs of students who are not on UAA's competitive squad.

The opening session will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 7-10 p.m. in SSB 118. All participants should plan to attend this introductory session as we will give a tutorial on how to debate, including a demonstration round by members of the Seawolf Debate Team, and will assign pairings for the tournament. Competitors will then need to attend one of the preliminary round sessions on a Tuesday evening in February. The semifinal will take place on Tuesday, March 5, while the championship round will take place on Thursday, March 7. The debates are open to the public; so, even if you do not plan to compete, you are more than welcome to observe any of the debate rounds.

Registration is limited to the first 32 teams who enter the tournament. This competition is open to UAA undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in at least six credits in the spring semester. Priority is given to those who register as a complete team, which consists of two students. More than $2,000 in prizes will be awarded to the top competitors. Please visit the tournament website for more information and to register.
