by Michelle Saport |
Friday, April 5, 7:30-9:30 p.m.
Fine Arts Building, Recital Hall
The UAA Department of Music is delighted to welcome critically acclaimed cellist Tanya
Tomkins to Anchorage. A virtuoso on both the Baroque and modern cello, Tomkins is
equally at home playing a Bach cello suite in an intimate house concert or anchoring
the cello section as principal cellist of the internationally renowned Philharmonia
Baroque Orchestra on concert stages around the world.
Described as "a cellist with a very rare and unusual intensity" and "a performer who combines an intense dramatic fire with Apollonian poise," she was also the first cellist to win the international Erwin Bodky Competition for early music soloists.
The evening will feature music by Bach, Vivaldi and Geminiani, and is sure to delight any music lover. Tickets are available at UAATix.com.
