Military Friendly School 2020–21 logoFor the 12th year in a row, UAA has been designated a Military Friendly School by Viqtory, which annually benchmarks and rates colleges nationwide, helping veterans and military families make decisions about education and career opportunities.

UAA is dedicated to providing high-quality and comprehensive support to military and veteran students and their families through its Military and Veteran Student Services programs. The VetSuccess on Campus program, one of only 104 nationwide, helps members of UAA's military community succeed and thrive through a coordinated delivery of on-campus benefits assistance and counseling. Students also have the option to take courses and access services directly on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

Across UAA’s campuses, active-duty military, National Guard and Reserve personnel, veterans and their immediate family members make up more than 18% of the student body.

"Today is Veterans Day, and I am reminded of the important contributions veterans make to our city, state and nation each and every day," wrote Chancellor Sandeen in a message to the UAA community. "At UAA, veterans are essential. They are professors, students, staff members and alumni."
