The Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) is led by Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Samuel Gingerich. Academic Affairs is responsible for the oversight and support of the teaching, research, engagement, and service that takes place in the academic schools and colleges (including the community campuses). As the Chief Academic Officer, the Provost acts as co-chair of the Planning Budget and Advisory Committee (PBAC) and oversees institutional efforts such as strategic planning and coordination of academic matters with the UA System through the Statewide Academic Council.

The institution’s academic units are also led by the Full Council of Deans and Directors, which is chaired by the Provost and includes deans of UAA’s schools and colleges, directors of the community campuses and institutional centers, and other academic leaders such as the OAA executive team.
