Health sciences major Gloria Renken receives AARP Alaska scholarship
by Britteny Howell |
AARP Alaska has just reinstated a program to award scholarships to UAA students interested in careers in aging. This semester, AARP Alaska has awarded the first scholarship to College of Health student Gloria Renken. Gloria is majoring in Health Sciences and has taken two gerontology courses here at UAA with Dr. Britteny Howell because of her career interest in working with veterans. As a non-traditional student with a busy family and a part-time job, she says this scholarship makes a big difference in her academic progress and provides a boost of confidence that she is accomplishing something important and meaningful.
