UAA’s Surgical Technology program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Accreditation Review Committee for Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA).

In order to meet the requirements for graduation from the Surgical Technology Program at the University of Alaska Anchorage, students must (during externship) serve in the “First Scrub” role for a minimum of one hundred twenty (120) cases as outlined by the Association of Surgical Technology Core Curriculum 6th Edition.

Certification is not required as a Surgical Technologist to work in the State of Alaska. The college makes no representation, promise or guarantee that completion of this program assures eligibility for/or passage of any certification examination or acceptance by any state board.  This program is not intended to prepare students for employment in any other state than Alaska. Prospective and current students, as well as graduates, are responsible for researching and understanding all examination, registration or licensure requirements in any state in which they seek to become registered, licensed or employed.
