WWAMI Student Androcles "Andy" Lester, a UAF graduate, is the recipient of the $5,000 Greater Fairbanks community Hospital Foundation Award. He accepted the award at the UA Foundation Board of Trustees' annual meeting in November 2010.

The Greater Fairbanks community Hospital Foundation set up the award to honor the Cardiology Task Force, which was instrumental in bringing the first cardiologist to Fairbanks. Applicants must be a UA graduate and first-year WWAMI student who intends to return to Alaska to practice medicine.
Aurthur N. Wilson, MD Scholarship
The American Medical Association Foundation has awarded the Arthur N. Wilson, MD Scholarship to Alaska WWAMI student Cassie Iutzi. The scholarship is awarded to a medical student who graduated from a high school in Southeast Alaska that has consistently received academic honors. Iutzi will receive a $5,000 scholarship to help defray medical school expenses.
Iutzi is a third-year medical student in the WWAMI program. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage after graduating from Juneau-Douglas High School. She is also pursuing a master's degree at the UW School of Public Health, Department of Global Health.
Pursuing her international health interest, Iutzi has volunteered since 2004 in a Nicaraguan clinic as a medical interpreter. At the same clinic, she completed a practicum studying patient satisfaction and participated in the clinic's community education and women's health groups.

Her global view is complemented by a dedication to her local roots, and she plans to participate in the WWAMI Rural Integrated Training Experience in Juneau in the latter part of her third year.
She has taken a leadership role during medical school, serving as co-director for the Alaska class' Family Medicine Interest Group, founder of the Access to Care group and director for Casa Latina Health Education, providing education on various health topics to Latino populations.
