Earth Week 2013

Celebrate the planet and help raise environmental awareness at the following Earth Week events:

"Kilowatt Ours" Monday, April 22, 1-4 p.m. Student Union, Cafeteria

"Kilowatt Ours" shows the effects of our ever-increasing energy use, talks about how we can move to renewable sources of energy and offers small, easy steps people can take to cut their utility bills. After the movie, there will be a panel discussion about how this can happen in Alaska featuring representatives from Alaska Energy Authority, Lime Solar and the Renewable Energy Alaska Project (REAP).

EcoChic fashion show Tuesday, April 23, 2-4 p.m. Student Union, Cafeteria

Models will strut outfits that were purchased from thrift or consignment stores, or made from materials that would have otherwise been thrown in the trash. Get ideas for looking tres chic on a budget.

"Trashed" Wednesday, April 24, 1-4 p.m. Student Union, Cafeteria

Tag along with Academy Award-winning actor Jeremy Irons as he travels around the world to beautiful destinations tainted by pollution, revealing the extent and effects of the global waste problem. The rights to show this movie were generously donated by Dave Rand of ATS Alaska.

All Earth Week events are sponsored by by the Sustainability Club, USUAA Sustainability Committee and Office of Sustainability.
