Motions Debated in 2014
The topic areas that will be debated in 2014 are:
Cigarettes
Managing Bankrupt Cities & Restoring Fiscal Viability
Polygamy
Participation of Political Parties in Emerging Democracies
Marijuana
Participants will not know which side they will be debating until 20 minutes prior to the round.
While announcing the topic area in advance does not truly conform to the World's style of debate, which is extemporaneous in nature, we believe that providing some predictability will enhance the overall quality of debates and aid debaters in the transition from formats that are prepared in nature.
Motions Debated in 2010
The exact wording of the motions will not be released until 20 minutes before the start of each debate round. However, the six topic areas, in alphabetical order, are:
Dying Alaska Native Languages
Electioneering Communication
Iranian Politics
Marijuana
Prosectuting Terrorists
Unhealthful Foods
Participants will not know which side they will be debating until 20 minutes prior to the round.
