Graduate Degree Hooding Ceremony

The Hooding Ceremony is a formal acknowledgment of master's and doctoral degree students' years of devoted study and academic achievement. Candidates will be officially hooded at this ceremony and can proudly wear their hoods, receive their diploma covers, and have their degrees conferred at UAA's Commencement on Sunday, May 5. Please read through the How to Participate section for full ceremony details. The deadline to RSVP is April 26. 

Know the Steps to Participate:

1.  Apply for Graduation

An application for graduation must be submitted prior to walking in the Hooding or Commencement ceremony. For application steps, visit Graduation & Degree Services and remember these deadlines: 

  • March 29, 2024 - Deadline to apply for spring graduation and be recognized in the Hooding and Commencement programs. 
  • April 26, 2024 - Deadline to apply for spring graduation and participate in the Hooding and Commencement ceremonies. 

2.  RSVP for the Hooding Ceremony

An RSVP is required for all participating master's and doctoral degree candidates. The RSVP link on the main Commencement webpage accepts RSVPs for both the Hooding and Commencement ceremonies. The deadline to RSVP is April 26. 

3.  Purchase Regalia from the Seawolf Store

Cap, gown and tassel are required to participate in commencement. A hood is also required for master's and doctoral degree candidates participating in the hooding ceremony.

Guest tickets are not required for this event.  

Viewing the Ceremony Online

The hooding ceremony will be streamed on Facebook Live and the link will be shared on this page. A Facebook login is not required to view the event.
