Nomination
The Chancellor's Awards for Excellence accepts nominations in nine categories. Awards are open to individuals and teams from the Anchorage campus or one of UAA's community campuses.
The nomination process is simple and easily completed in 15-20 minutes. For most categories, nominators only need to provide basic nominee information and a short answer (250 words or fewer) as to how the candidate meets the criteria. Nomination deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, March 6.

2020 Chancellor's Awards for Excellence — Categories and Criteria
Excellence in Academic Research / Creative Activity |
Faculty | Up to two awards per year: One from the Anchorage campus; one from a community campus. |
Contributes outstanding and significant impact in a field of study and to UAA through research, engagement or creative activities. |
Promoting Student Achievement |
Faculty or staff | Up to two awards per year: One from the Anchorage campus; one from a community campus. |
Outstanding contributions to student achievement through innovative and creative approaches. |
Staff Excellence |
Staff | Up to two awards per year: One from the Anchorage campus; one from a community campus. |
Exercises leadership, initiative, outstanding teamwork capabilities that create a positive atmosphere, and consistently performs at a level above normal job requirements to advance the mission of the university. |
Excellence in Diversity |
Faculty or staff | One award per year for all UAA campuses. |
Outstanding contribution to the advancement of diversity of UAA students, staff and faculty through increasing the visibility and representation of diverse voices, creating an atmosphere of inclusiveness and community. |
Community Engagement and Service |
Faculty or staff | One award per year for all UAA campuses. |
Outstanding contributions to the advancement of partnerships between the university and Alaska's communities. |
Climate Change Impact |
Faculty, staff or students | Up to two awards per year: One from the Anchorage campus; one from a community campus. |
Demonstrating outstanding commitment to reducing UAA's impact on the environment or increasing our understanding or the impacts of climate change through teaching, research or community service. |
Transformation and Change Agent |
Faculty or staff | Up to two awards per year: One from the Anchorage campus; one from a community campus. |
For making a significant and positive contribution toward support and implementation of a major organizational change. |
Friend and Advocate |
Individuals or organizations outside UAA | Up to two awards per year: One from the Anchorage campus; one from a community campus. |
To individuals and organizations outside UAA for support of (other than financial) and advocacy for the university and its mission. |
