Branded Publication Templates
Each year across UAA, thousands of print and electronic publications are produced for external distribution. The print publication templates provided here are a tool for UAA employees wanting to create branded materials for their areas. As a part of UAA’s overall brand effort, these templates will help ensure consistency and accuracy in the use of the university’s visual identity.
Template files are available for use in Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint formats. Most of the InDesign template designs include both bleed (color prints to the edges of the document) and non-bleed (color stops at a white border around the edges) options. The Word templates are all non-bleed. A prior working knowledge of InDesign will make these templates much easier to use.
This list of templates will continue to grow as we create more templates, so please check back regularly for new design and publication options. If you don’t see a template file that fits your need, contact University Marketing and Communications for further assistance.

Fonts
The font family Roboto Condensed is the font used in all templates. Make sure to download and install all fonts before opening and working with a template file. If the fonts do not appear in your font menu, you may need to restart your program if it was open while you installed the fonts.

UAA Textures
A background patterned texture is often used in UAA’s branded look. Here is a packet
of premade color corrected textures in a variety of sizes and shapes to use. Higher-resolution
versions of these are available upon request.
Download UAA Textured Backgrounds
A gradient halftone dot pattern is another texture often used. All the textures in
this set are in a transparent PNG file format. This texture is most commonly used
to overlay the above texture, photos or other items. Textures comes in three levels
of transparency (30%, 50% and 100%) and this transparency effect helps the textures
to merges more subtly with what is below it. Color choices are in the UAA standard
colors plus black and white. You will also find included a user guide explaining how
to use these files in Word on both PCs and Macs. Non-angled versions of these files
are also available upon request.

Template Instructions
Click on the thumbnails below each publication type to view a larger preview of the template. Click the download button for the publication you want.
Note: If you have trouble downloading any of the templates, try right-clicking them and saving the file to your computer that way. Certain browsers may automatically try to open the template in the browser, which will not work. If that doesn’t work, please contact us and we would be happy to help you directly. Also if a template file seems to be displaying wrong or elements are out of place, please let us know so we can correct the problem if possible.
InDesign Templates
The InDesign publications are prepackaged with all assets and compressed as .zip files. After you have expanded a compressed file on your computer, keep all the contents of the publication folder together or the connection to the linked graphic objects will be broken. If you want to be assured of the highest print quality, save your InDesign files as a PDF and send the files to the UAA General Support Services (GSS) Copy & Print Center for printing. Files may be submitted online through the Copy & Print Center’s Digital Storefront or via email Call 786-6860 for assistance or more information. Folded and full-bleed files should always be sent to GSS to make the folding and trimming is done correctly.

Word Templates
Microsoft Word files are saved as template files. All Word files are non-bleed so they can be printed from office printers. If you want to be assured of the highest print quality for your copies, save your Word files as a PDF and send the files to the UAA General Support Services (GSS) Copy & Print Center for printing. PowerPoint Templates
The Microsoft PowerPoint files are saved as template files. Slide format is set up for widescreen 16:9 displays (1920x1080 pixels). You will also find one template set up in the old 4:3 format as well.

Social Media Graphic
These templates are for creating a square Profile Image to be used in all the common social media websites. This template uses PowerPoint to create a .PNG or .JPEG file in a variety of color and texture combinations. Instructions on what to do are included in the notes section below each slide area. The steps needed to create a picture from PowerPoint are different on a PC and a Mac, so make sure to download the correct version for your computer. Be sure to download and install the Roboto fonts before opening the files to make sure the text content appears correctly.
Required EO/AA Statement and Notice of Nondiscrimination
The Office for Civil Rights requires schools and colleges to implement specific and continuing steps to inform students and others of the protections against discrimination on the basis of sex. The notification must state that the requirement of nondiscrimination in educational programs and activities extends to employment and admission. It also must say that questions about Title IX may be referred to the employee designated to coordinate Title IX compliance or to the assistant secretary for civil rights.
Universities are required to include a statement of nondiscriminatory policy in any bulletins, announcements, publications, catalogs, application forms, or other recruitment materials that are made available to participants, students, applicants, or employees including but not limited to:
- academic catalogs
- student handbooks
- residence life handbooks
- employee handbooks
- athletic handbooks
- applications for admission
- applications for employment
This information also needs to be in any publication that mentions or describes sex discrimination policies, procedures, or prohibitions.

An optional sentence may be added: In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, this material is available in alternate formats upon request.
The accreditation statement can also be included: The University of Alaska Anchorage is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
