Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the UAA SEA Film Festival?
    • We will be announcing several category awards for videos and then playing them. Recipients of these awards will receive a Film Festival watermark on their video and a certificate.
    • Audience members will be encouraged to leave positive comments on the videos as they stream.
    • Polls throughout the Film Festival will be made available to determine people's choice awards.
    • Student videos will then be featured on the UAA College of Engineering website, Facebook, and Instagram throughout the school year.
  • How do we submit a video to the festival?
Please use this onine form to submit a video project to the film festival.
  • When are video entries due?

In fairness to students from each session, participants from each SEA session are given 3 additional weeks to work on their videos. Thus, each camp has a different deadline:

    • June 8-12 Cohort - Videos Due July 3
    • June 15-19 Cohort - Videos Due July 10
    • July 6-10 Cohort - Videos Due July 30
  • Who can submit videos?
Any student who participated in one of the Summer 2020 UAA Videography camps.
  • Can students make changes/revisions to their videos after camp is done?

Yes! We have given every camp cohort an extra 3 weeks after their camp session is finished, and we encourage them to use that time to really polish their videos up. They can continue to use their Schoology course to upload revised versions of their videos and request feedback. Some things students can focus on improving:

    • Audio levels (make sure voiceover is audible over music)
    • In focus, interesting B-Roll that demonstrates strong composition and changes up often enough to keep the viewer interested.
    • Smooth editing (no blank, black screens, ensuring credits are properly sized and placed on credit slide, etc.)
    • Re-filming shots that were less than ideal (IE: blurry, shaky, dark, etc.)
  • What prizes/awards will be given out?
We will be giving out awards in multiple categories, which will be issued and announced in form of a Film Festival ward watermark placed on the student's video, as well as a certificate that will be mailed to the student.
  • Who can attend the festival?
Anyone! We're streaming it online, so we encourage students, their families, and community to join us for the event!
