Addressing the health care needs of rural, underserved and diverse populations in Alaska, UAA’s certificate for psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioners combines real-world clinical experience with distance learning courses for an intensive, interprofessional graduate program.

  • Practice autonomously while earning clinical hours. You have the option to be placed in a preceptorship.
  • Complete your practicum requirements while making a difference in your own community. Internships and clinical experiences are available throughout Alaska in rural and urban communities.
  • Add a service learning component to your practicum. For example, graduate students have co-led support groups for traumatized children and provided outpatient psychiatric care for transgender youth, young adults and veterans.
