In response to the COVID-19 global pandemic, the University of Alaska Anchorage has taken steps to protect the health and safety of our campus community. Volunteer for Commencement or Hooding

Commencement could not happen without volunteers who contribute their time and energy to make this day a success. Years of hard work and dedication culminate in this timeless academic tradition and celebration of student success. The planning committee is eager to celebrate the students’ achievements and it is our hope that you will volunteer to be a part of the celebration.

Hooding Ceremony

Saturday, May 2 at the Wendy Williamson Auditorium

Ceremony 3 - 4 p.m.

  • 1:30 - 4:30 p.m.: Assist students with check in, greet and direct guests, hand out programs, act as usher.

Commencement Ceremony 

Sunday, May 3 at the Alaska Airlines Center

Ceremony 1 - 3 p.m.

  • 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.: Guide and direct students during registration through the processional, recessional, photography area, etc. See a full list of positions under Position Descriptions in the right-hand menu.
