How To Setup Outlook 2007

Purpose
This document will guide you through the configuration of Outlook 2007 for the UAA
email system on Windows XP and Windows7.
Needed Materials
<div• Windows Operating System XP or 7• Microsoft Office Outlook 2007
• UA domain username & password
• Knowledge of what server you email currently resides. (2010 or 2003).
Older 2003 Server: ancexchange.uaa.alaska.edu
Newer 2010 Server: owa.uaa.alaska.edu

Steps to Resolution
Windows Outlook 2007 Email Set-up Instructions:
• Click on the start icon on the bottom left hand corner of the screen
• Click on Control Panel
If the control panel view is currently in category view you will want to change it by:
Windows XP
Clicking on “Switch to Classic View” located in the left hand column.
Windows 7
Click on the drop down menu where it says “View by: Category” at the top right of the window and
select Small Icons
• Click on Mail
• Click E-mail Accounts…
*An Account Settings window should pop up
• Click New…
*The Add new email account window should pop up
• Check the box next to manually configure server settings or additional server types
• Click Next
• Select the circle next to Microsoft Exchange
• Click Next
This is where we will need to know what server your department is currently using.
• Type in the field labeled” Microsoft Exchange Server” the following…
• Old Server- ancexchange.uaa.alaska.edu
• New Server- owa.uaa.alaska.ed
• Make sure your name or current user name is in the User Name field
• Click Next and you are finished.
Note: A window may pop up informing you that your mail will be saved in a new location. You can just click OK to close the window.
* Is being used to describe an action that should be taken place at this time.
Additional Information
You can now open outlook and your newly configured account should be working. Give it a few minutes when opening outlook for the first time after a new configuration for your emails to populate into your folders.
