The College of Health (COH) is in the forefront of educating students to become doctors, nurses, and other health care and public health professionals and researchers. The college is comprised of 15 academic and research units focused on the state’s top health priorities:
- Interpersonal violence
- Childhood trauma
- Substance abuse
- Health care systems policy and delivery
- Environmental health
- Biomedical science
We strive to collaborate on innovative approaches with all of our partners and stakeholders, to develop interdisciplinary resources, and to engage communities in a culture that promotes health and academic and research excellence.
Professional programs housed within the College of Health share a common interest in issues that impact the development, health, and well being of individuals and communities. The instructional, service, and scholarship efforts of the faculty in the various curricula are enhanced and supported by collaborative research and service activities in the various organizations.
Together, through multi-disciplinary approaches, the schools, departments, centers, and institutes take direct action to address the needs and potentials of Alaska's peoples and communities.
