Graduate Funding Opportunities

Sloan Fellowship opportunity through ANSEP for graduate students:
This program gives $33,000 fellowship to Native American (Alaska Native, American Indian, and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander-they have to have documentation) who are pursuing MS or PhDs in hard science degree programs at UAA and UAF.  Hard sciences refers to sciences that utilize calculus, so psychology does not qualify.  Also, students do not need to be full-time students to participate in this opportunity.  Students who get accepted to Sloan can also qualify for other supports through ANSEP (conference, supplies, etc.).   Students can be accepted into the fellowship at a prorated basis (so if they have completed a semester of their MS they'd only get 3/4 of the fellowship, etc.).  See information to contact the PI's about being accepted to this wonderful opportunity.

In 2019, The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, Arctic Section is pleased to offer one scholarship award of $3000 in memory of John W. Davies, a former Chair of the Section.

The competition is open to any full time graduate student at a recognized University in Canada or the US State of Alaska whose research will assist in providing solutions to problems encountered in the Arctic or in cold ocean environments. The attached letter contains information on research areas and selection requirements. Information is also on the Arctic Section’s website:  https://www.sname.org/arcticsection/home.

The deadline for applications is midnight Mountain Standard Time on Friday, June 28, 2019. This scholarship will be awarded in the fall of 2019.
