Movie and discussion: 'Girl Rising,' Dec. 5

The Alaska World Affairs Council presents a special screening of Girl Rising, a film telling the stories of nine extraordinary girls from nine countries, written by nine celebrated writers and narrated by nine renowned actresses. Girl Rising showcases the strength of the human spirit and the power of education to change the world. Watch the trailer here.
The film will be followed by a panel discussion with:
- Shehla Anjum, writer and editor
- Brian Callahan, advocacy and outreach manager for the Global Campaign for Education,
- Zynep Kilic, faculty in UAA's Department of Sociology
- Kimberly Pace, faculty in UAA's departments of Political Science and Women's Studies
