Fall 2015: Crisis alert tests scheduled for this week

by Michelle Saport  |

The Office of Emergency Management will conduct a short test on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (Oct. 26, 28, 30) of the crisis alerting capability of our Cisco phones on campus. No test will be sent to personal phones or emails.

During UAA's recent use of the Cisco telephone emergency paging system through the speakerphone function for the earthquake drill, the quality of the announcements was inadequate. IT Services and Emergency Management have been working on a solution and feel confident that a crisis message can now be sent and received in its entirety.

A test alert will be sent at 11 a.m. each day for about 15 seconds. If the solution is a success on Monday, no further testing will be needed Wednesday or Friday. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

As always, please log in to your personal profile at UAAlert.alaska.edu to make sure your phone number and other information is accurate so we can reach you during a closure or other event.
