Fall 2015: Please encourage students to complete Mapworks survey

by Michelle Saport  |

The Fall Check-up Mapworks survey is live for students to take between now and Nov. 29. Mapworks is a student transition and success program that has been on the UAA Campus since 2010. Degree-seeking students who have earned 60 credits or less are expected to participate in the Mapworks program all yearlong. As UAA faculty and staff, you can help our first- and second-year students succeed by announcing the survey in your classroom and encouraging students to participate.

Mapworks conducts four surveys each academic year: two in the fall and two in the spring. Students receive the survey in their UAA email. Upon completion of each survey, students may access their personalized success report based on their responses. The report is confidential, identifies individual strengths and challenges, offers tips to improve and encourages students to connect to resources at UAA. The algorithm used to create the report is steeped in years of student retention research. Students are encouraged to share their reports with advisors to make a plan for success as they transition to the demands of college.

Students who complete a survey are entered to win prizes. So far this year, we have given away an iPad, Bookstore gift certificates, parking permits, Subway sandwiches and T-shirts.
