NEWS: Moving to permanent rooms and times for fitness sessions during the pilot.

One of the most frequent requests is to make times and locations for wellness breaks permanent throughout the pilot (through December). We are working on doing exactly that. The HPER students have capacity to fill 8 slots each week. The permanent locations we are working on include: EIB, PSB, ADM, Bragaw, Library, CHD, UC and the University Lake Annex. Stay tuned. We'll set the schedule and you can count on it weekly!

That does NOT mean we can't add some ad hoc locations, so if you have interest, please contact professor Jean Marcey of HPER at jmarcey@uaa.alaska.edu.

Coming Next: Knock Out November

Knock Out November is a special pre-Thanksgiving opportunity with special hour-long classes held in the WFSC. Classes are free and open to all, and begin on Nov. 16. This is the opportunity to work out before your Thanksgiving festivities! Classes led by HPER students, and remember, they are free and open to anyone. They typically happen at noon and right after work. Watch Seawolf Daily for classes, locations (all in WFSC) and fun!

Student are also working on "lunch and learn" type opportunities to discuss wellness, nutrition etc. Those are likely to start the week of Nov. 20. Stay tuned!

A big fat thank you!

This effort is aimed at bringing some relaxation and wellness opportunities to UAA Staff, in response to requests we heard. This effort is a collaboration between the UAA Staff Council and HPER. The UAA Staff Council would like to express gratitude to professor Jean Marcey for her energy and outreach. We'd like to thank the students for their excellent classes-feedback has been strong.

And we'd like to thank all staff who've participated in the fitness sessions so far. (Students and faculty are always welcome at a session if there is room).

Starting something brand new like this is a challenge. Our goal is to see if staff are interested and the classes meet a need. The UAA Staff Council has ambitions for spring semester, if the fall pilot is successful. Your feedback and ideas are always welcome to Jean Marcey at jmarcey@uaa.alaska.edu.

Happy Monday!
