2016 Machetanz Festival: Six days of art workshops and film screenings

by Michelle Saport  |

20160510-machetanz-schedule2016 represents the sixth year of the Machetanz Arts Festival at Matanuska-Susitna College. This event is named in honor and memory of Fred and Sara Machetanz, who are closely associated with the early years of this institution. The artwork of Fred Machetanz adorns the walls of homes and institutions across Alaska and beyond. The books of Sara Machetanz can be found on bookshelves across the country. This festival is an opportunity to nurture the spirit that impelled the Machetanz family to embrace the arts. Take a day or two in June to join us at Matanuska-Susitna College as we look to the arts for inspiration, relaxation and fun. Take a class, draw a picture, make something and meet great artists.

Workshops this year include sculpture, ceramics, 3-D printers, raku, fused glass, drawing, water color. View the schedule. Registration for all workshops is now open through UAA's Continuing Education Department.

Tickets to the Machetanz Film Festival are on sale now as well.
