by Michelle Saport  |

Please join us in wishing Interim Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Enrollment Services Lacy Karpilo a fond farewell on Friday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m. in the Student Union Den. After seven years of service at UAA, Dr. Karpilo has accepted the Vice President for Student Affairs position at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande.

While at UAA, working in her various roles as AVC for Student Access, Advising and Transition and Director of Residence Life, Lacy enthusiastically championed and advocated for students. Lacy's determination that students remain the focus of our efforts is contagious and has fostered a renewal of efforts at UAA, both in Student and Academic Affairs. Under her leadership, UAA has transformed its strategies in improving student access to higher education and increasing student retention and persistence.

In addition to her contributions to student services, Lacy exemplified leadership through her work as a founding member of the Alaska Postsecondary Access and Completion Network. Lacy established strong partnerships outside of the university, collaborating with legislators, local businesses, non-profit agencies and other universities within the state to advocate for the educational needs of all Alaskans.

Her leadership, dedication to students and perpetual optimism will be greatly missed. Please come join Student Affairs staff in congratulating Dr. Karpilo on this wonderful professional advancement opportunity and wishing her the very best in her new endeavors.
