Turkish food plays an important role in the life of UAA sociology professor Zeynep Kılıç. Her "Tables of Istanbul" — a film exploring food, culture and identity in the melting-pot metropolis of Istanbul — will be shown in Anchorage's Wildberry Theater on March 25.

The 2017 UAA Leadership Conference is a daylong experience to be inspired by student, staff, and faculty leaders at UAA. Hosted by the Emerging Leaders Program, the conference includes multiple leadership workshops, free lunch and a special address by TED speaker Drew Dudley. All students are invited to attend the conference on Friday, March 24, in UAA's Rasmuson Hall.
With more than 100 spoken languages, Anchorage is among the country's most diverse cities. "It's a challenge in Anchorage," said Heather MacAlpine, director of the Office of Equal Opportunity. "I find that really exciting."
