Service and Assistance Animals at UAA: Proposed Rules and Procedures

by Michelle Saport  |

UAA Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Bruce Schultz seeks feedback on two proposed UAA-wide rules and procedures: (1) Service and Assistance Animals at UAA, and (2) On-Campus Living Assistance Animal Policy and Agreement. These documents are available for download at the Student Affairs website.

To receive these documents in an alternate format, please contact the UAA Office of Student Affairs at (907) 786-6108.

The legal framework concerning disability-related animals is very complex and includes Regent's Policy and University Regulation, state human rights law, as well as the Fair Housing Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act Title I (employment), Title II (public entities), and Title III (public accommodations).

Establishing clear guidance will help ensure students, employees and campus guests experience an inclusive and supportive environment in accordance with the law.
