The Capitol Report 2/22/19: UA makes strong showing in Capitol

The Capitol Report - Feb. 22, 2019

Today is the 39th Legislative Day and the end of an incredibly busy week in Juneau. The University of Alaska was well represented in the Capitol - engaging legislators on the budget, attending the Juneau Economic Development Council's annual Innovation Summit, and briefing legislators on the power and benefits of our research. This week also featured fly-ins by our 4-H students, Fairbanks and Anchorage Chambers of Commerce and the Alaska Municipality League. The Legislature gathered in Joint Session to receive annual addresses from Senator Murkowski, Senator Sullivan, and the Chief Justice of the Alaska Supreme Court.

With organization finalized, the House returned to regular order late this week and has scheduled a full slate of committee meetings next week.
