Planning an event that celebrates diversity? Request funds from Diversity Action Council
by Michelle Saport |
Celebrations ranging from veterans' tributes and civil rights movements to leadership development and events that honor different cultures are happening every day at UAA. If you're planning an event on campus that celebrates our unique diversity, we want to help!
The Diversity Action Council (DAC) aims to foster an inclusive, welcoming and respectful campus community that promotes diversity, civility, inclusion and an appreciation for each unique member of our academic community.
In the past six months, the DAC has partnered to fund campus-driven events and community conversations:
- UAA's Filipino American History Month
- Indigenous Peoples' Day
- Mat-Su College Veterans Day Tribute
- UAA's Giving Thanks Dance Festival and Potluck with the Native Student Council
- KPC's Winter Concert of Traditional Irish Music
- UAA's Crossing the Line workshop for the Student Leadership Conference
- KPC's Civil Rights Day
- UAA's Martin Luther King Luncheon with Guest Lecturer Derreck Kayongo, CEO of the Human Rights Center and founder of the Global Soap Project
The DAC Funding Committee meets on the third Thursday of the month to review requests over $1,000. Please visit the DAC website for more information and the funding request form.
